Pimple Emergency: How to get Rid of Acne and Pimples

Hi, I’m Alana, licensed aesthetician and Day Spa owner. So if you have a large pimple and a big night coming up, I’m going to give you a few tips to get rid of that embarrassing pimple. So one thing you can do is at home, I recommend doing this at night or whenever you’re not going to be out seeing people soon – is to put ice actually on that red, inflamed pimple. It’s going to make it slightly red at first, just from the intense cold from that ice being placed on it. So you put that ice on the skin – about 10 seconds on, 10 seconds off, that’s actually going to help reduce that inflammation, reduce the redness and help bring it back and pull it into your skin. I also recommend drinking a lot of water that will help flush things out and reduce that pimple that you have.

Now, you’re at home and you don’t necessarily have a medicated acne spot treat. If you have any over the counter toothpaste, that will help to dry out that pimple. Now you want to make sure that you dry it out but you don’t want to let it get really dry because then you just have a dry, gross pimple so put a little bit on there before you go to bed at night and that will help to dry it out.

Let’s see, what are some other good ones to do at night? Oh…you can put a warm wash cloth on that pimple at night and if it comes to a head, extract it with Q-tips – don’t use your fingers, don’t use Kleenex. Use Q-tips and you want to go down and up – don’t push this way as you’re going to force the thing back in and usually make it worse. Now I highly recommend that you go to an aesthetician if you really have a lot of extractions needed. There they can do the proper extractions – high frequency which is great to get rid of any type of pimples and to give your skin an overall brighter appearance. So those are a few tips for you to do at home if you have a pimple emergency and you need to get it cleared up fast.
